Privacy.

Short, because the site collects almost nothing. Written in plain English rather than the usual boilerplate.

Stored in your browser, not on a server

Your team pick and any battle line you drag are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device. Clearing site data removes them. They are never sent anywhere with your name on them.

Votes

When you vote, the site records the round, the side, a country code and a one-way fingerprint. The fingerprint is a SHA-256 hash of your IP address, browser user-agent, a secret salt and the current month.

It exists for one reason: so one person can't vote a hundred times. It cannot be reversed into an IP address, and because the month is part of it, it stops matching you at the start of every month. Your raw IP address is never written to the database.

Email

If you join the waitlist, the address is stored so we can send one email when voting opens. Nothing else, no sharing, no selling, no list rental. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask for removal at any time at admin@macwindow.com.

Analytics

Aggregate, privacy-preserving page-view statistics only — no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles, and no cookie banner because there are no tracking cookies to consent to.

What the site never does

No advertising networks, no third-party trackers.
No selling or sharing of data with anyone.
No account required, ever, to vote or use the tools.
No storing of raw IP addresses.

Your rights

Under GDPR you may request a copy of anything held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or have it deleted. In practice that means your email address, since votes are stored against an irreversible hash and cannot be traced back to you. Write to admin@macwindow.com and it gets handled.

Processors

The site runs on Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database). Both act as processors on macwindow.com's behalf and are bound by their own data-protection terms. Email delivery, when it starts, will be handled by a transactional email provider under the same arrangement.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date at the top changes with it.
